| A fabulous large pin by William Spratling, this piece corresponds to his first design period and is adorned with a large amethyst cabochon. There appears to have been a repair on the back of the pin. It is common to have these early pins with either broken latches of with repairs of the closures. However, the hallmarks are authentic and there is no damage to the piece itself. Both tooling and usage marks are present under high magnification. A very substantial piece. 55 g (1.9 oz); 8 x 7.5 cm (3 1/5 x 3").
