Exceptional antique Mexican necklace from Tehuantepec. This is one of the finest pieces we have found. The filigree is very tight and fine. All the pearls are natural with seed and natural ocean pearls. The gold test at 12 k which is is typical of this work. This fabulous necklace has a great ethnographic look and was assembled with large beads of natural coral and antique silver coins. Some of the coins are from post Independence Mexico dated in the 1800s. Many are older Spanish Colonial. The small colonial coins are 1 Real and the central coin is an 8 Real going from 1800. A unique find, this is a vintage necklace marked MEXICO. The silver beads are hand made old beads and the amber is from the Simojovel deposits in Chiapas. The necklace is composed of various colors of amber that exist in this region. Including the rarest blue green. All beads have the natural fluorescence under UV light. The amber is top quality. The necklace is 24 inches long. Just a gorgeous necklace!

Exceptional very early Matilde Poulat Necklace. This is an absolutely gorgeous piece with perfect provenance and quality that is consistent with early 20th C when craftsmanship and design were at the highest level of quality.Probably from the late 1920's to the very early 1930's. In the book MEXICAN JEWELRY by Pack and Davis, one can see the photograph of the original gold necklace excavated on tomb #7 of Montealban archaeological site (page 37).
