Amazing piece, this cuff is truly exceptional and was made by the Doris shop in Cuernavaca in the early 1940's. The flower is a design by Valentin Vidaurreta and one can speculate if he had any dealings with the Doris Corpus Artisans shop. Little is know about this shop and the puzzle may never be solved. However, their pieces are all absolutely exceptional as is the case of this cuff. COLLECTOR QUALITY

Outstanding early Spratling cuff elegantly designed with a Pre Columbia weave design probably preceding the famous petate design. The design clearly reminds us that Spratling achieved a profound understanding of the Culture and the Country of Mexico. Most of his designs are appreciated for the aesthetic appeal and balance. However, one must remember that appreciation and knowledge of the culture made his pieces unique and intensely bonded with the land and the people. The applied mark in the ...click for details

Another great addition to our collection of Mexican repousse pieces, this is a well execute silver cuff with a lovely floral design that repeats along the cuff. The technique is quite evident on the surface where carving on the surface complements the back embossing (repousse). The cuff is in excellent condition and measures 5-3/4" of wearable length with a 1" gap/ The width is 1-1/4" evenly around. Marked Sanborns . COLLECTOR QUALITY
