This is truly a masterful example of the best mid century repousse of the Taxco masters. It is tempting to suggest that this mayhave been made by Justo (Coco) Castillo. The piece is signed JC and it is pre 1948. Justo was one of the Castillo brothers and reportedly the repoussage expert of the Taller. Teresa Camino was probably the most talented mexican jewelry designer of the 1980s and 1990s. She could have been the next Antonio Pineda if not for her untimely death in 2003. She was born in Mexico City and she trained in fine arts and design. Later she worked in Taxco. In the style of Matilde Poulat, this is a very early Mexico City repousse bracelet. The flower-like design is actually an Aztec depiction of a butterfly. This is a fine jewel measures 7" in length and the links are 1" wide at the center. Marked in the back only as STERLING. Amazing find.
