This is a wonderful MATL design made inspired by a large Aztec stone altar depicting a Tree of Life. The altar is part of the permanent collection at the Museo de Antropologia in Mexico City. This is a rare find. The pendant is concave in the back and can be used as a large brooch or as a pendant. The chain is an antique Mexican filigree chain not original to the piece but certainly a good match for it. Has an early Matl mark probably pre-eagle. This elegant Spratling bracelet corresponds to his First Design Period. The bracelet is made in all silver. There is a copper plating in the alternating scale links. A visionary modernist design shows the aesthetic characteristics that developed more openly in Spratling's third design period. Shows the wear and patina consistent with the age of the piece. A rare find. Measures 7-1/2" long and 1" wide. COLLECTOR QUALITY.
