This is a rare Mexican mixed technique silver bracelet. The piece is made by the artist Velazquez and is likely from Mexico City or its vicinity where this techniques evolved from the long colonial tradition of silversmithing. He used both incise or carving technique and gorgeous repoussage. The stone in the center is obsidian and the piece is absolutely breathtaking. Unique and yet reminiscent of the work of Matilde Poulat "MATL". This bracelet is destined to be a favorite of a fin ...click for details

This is truly a masterful example of the best mid century repousse of the Taxco masters. It is tempting to suggest that this mayhave been made by Justo (Coco) Castillo. The piece is signed JC and it is pre 1948. Justo was one of the Castillo brothers and reportedly the repoussage expert of the Taller. Clearly this piece was made by an artist that had mastered the technique. There are many exceptional clampers from Taxco and the period, but this one stands out. It is extraordinary as you can ...click for details

She was born in Mexico City and she trained in fine arts and design. Later she worked in Taxco. She supervised the production of jewelry at the Spratling Ranch in Taxco Viejo until 1984, when she left to work full time on her own designs. Her architectural jewelry designs are clearly inspired by the Mixtec and Aztec l ...click for details
