A unique set of William Spratling pins with onyx. These large pieces were made as fur clips to be worn on fur stoles and coats so fashionable in the 1940s. Mink, chinchilla and fox furs were used as a social status indicator. Clips were used since regular pins were difficult to use on fur and could damage the precious garments. The pins are sold as a set as they are not identical but rather mirror images of each other, meant to be worn on the left and right side of the fur stole. The hallmarks are correct and date the pins circa 1944-1946 in the Spratling first design period. Each clip measures 6.5 (2 1/2") by 2 cm (3/4") and weighs 17 grams (0.6 oz). COLLECTOR QUALITY.

After Spratling died in 1967, Alberto Ulrich purchased the William Spratling estate and continue to operate the silver shop under the name Sucesores de William Spratling and continue to produce the Spratling designs.
Later, the designer Giulia Modena created a line of jewelry at the Spratling Ranch with the hallmark "Rancho Spratling, WSR". Her designs were crafted by the same artisans who were also producing reissued Spratling designs.
This piece is part of this line of jewelry by Modena and is constructed out of hollow or carved cube links with triangle and circle designs.
The bracelet weight is 69 grams (2.43 oz) and measures 22 cm (8 1/2") long by 1.2 cm (1/2") wide. Very good condition. COLLECTOR QUALITY.
