Lovely example of the traditional Yalalag crosses of Oaxaca. This necklace made with antique beads. The piece is composed of large white-heart beads and silver hand-made beads. The cross pendant is the traditional cross for the Yalalag area. These pieces, by their nature, are difficult to date but this necklace is likely to be from the early 20th c. Many of these pieces are re-strung several times since people add components or wear out the strings. A fabulous find.
