This necklace is an interesting early piece, probably from the 1930s. The design is a pre columbian eagle. Two such eagles flanking a large amethyst cabochon. The cabochon looks much like those rectangular amethyst pieces in traditional to Fred Davis' pieces. Like in Spratling's brooch, tis bird deity is carved on solid silver. The chain is soft and well made and incised on the front to give the necklace a stronger look. Like many of the "generic" early pieces, this Mexica ...click for details

This is a great Ledesma set. Made probably with a highly polished malachite or a similar stone with great shine. All the links in this set move as if all were attached through the softest silk. The patina and wear have given these pieces a smoother and warmer feel. There is no damage on the stones all in good condition. Greatest color on stones that we have ever seen. Exactly as in the photos. The necklace appears to have been extended using a pair of earrings that were added as links. Th ...click for details

Amazing find this is an authentic Frederick Davis bracelet. A large masquette made in carved jadeite or similar stone. Fred Davis was one of the pioneers on the use of Neo Aztec iconography in Mexican Jewelry. These masquettes are really more similar to the Teotihuacan masks that were being excavated in the 1930s. This is a piece probably dated to the 1930s or early 1940s. Fred Davis' pieces are very hard to find as of lately. This bracelet is a rare Davis, thus fitting in the category ...click for details

Amazing piece this marvelous cuff is a full 3 inches wide! Made in Mexico City probably in the 1930s or early 1940s this cuff was manufactured for SANBORNS. This unfortunately does not allow us to decode the actual artist who made this piece. Deep artistic repousse gives the piece a strong presence. The piece makes a statement of elegance and boldness at the same time. Fine piece. MUSEUM QUALITY

A rarely seen piece of Spratling from his third design period. This lovely brooch can also be adapted to use as a pendant. It is one of the finest examples of how Spratling married his own designing style with the deepest Pre Columbian roots. The bird evokes the Olmec perforation tools. The Olmec are know as Cultura Madre or mother culture for Mexico. This culture flourished around 1500 BCE! This puts our contemporary culture much closer in time with the Aztec culture than the Aztecs were ...click for details

This is an extraordinary Mexican silver cuff bracelet. A rare find with weight and presence. The silver has the soft lines of what was originally etched and engraved. This kind of silver work is common in the Bajio region of Mexico. Maybe Jalisco. It is very hard to tell where this piece was made. It is marked Mexico and 925 and there seemed to be another hallmark that did not quite make it into the cuff from the laminate silver. This bracelet has the softness and character of old worn silve ...click for details

Exceptional Sterling box by Fred Davis. This box is probably from the 1950s and it is made with some of the finest repoussage technique of the Mexico City traditional school of repousse from a long Colonial tradition. The craftsmanship is impeccable. Boxes by Davis often surface but a masterpiece like this one is extremely rare. The rose bouquet depicts the classic Rosa Mexicana, which was made famous by the great jewelry of la Seņora Matilde Poulat. The box is 3¨in diameter and is 1'1-4¨de ...click for details
