This is a very, very rare Antonio Pineda bracelet with moving stones. The piece is a true masterpiece of design. Rare AP jade bracelet. The stones are mounted on a cradle that is part of the hinge. So they move as the hinges move. However, it is is not a jerky movement but a more subtle, delicate and quiet swing. No damages or repairs. Often refereed to as a "dragon" this necklace is one of the most remarkable silver depictions of QUETZALCOATL, the most important god of the Aztec and known by the Mayan as Cuculcan. This deity was a plumed serpent A feathered snake. This is possibly the the finest repousse piece ever produced by Margot de Taxco. Normally, in her designs she did not favor the Pre Columbian motifs favored by Aguilar and Spratling. However, this necklace is clearly the exception. This is Margot at her ...click for details

This is one spectacular bracelet. Made with huge links of carved stone (jadeite or agate?). The carving depicts a Pre Columbian frog figural. This frog depiction was used by various designers of the time, including Spratling. Amethyst carved frogs were found in the Tomb #7 of the Monte Alban Excavation. The Mixtec as well as the Mexica were were known to use these animal depictions in jewelry. These frogs, however, are large and important looking. This bracelet is gorgeous. This cuff was probably made by the same artist that made the Sanborns larger cuff we have listed. The depth and technique are quite similar. However this bracelet is simply signed Silver Mexico. No makers marks. Just gorgeous. Probably 1920s to 1930s. These flower repoussage of the Spanish Colonial silversmithing technique are true representatives of the long and old tradition of silver craftsmanship that was present for centuries in Mexico City. These pieces are unique and unlike the work ...click for details

Teresa Camino was probably the most talented mexican jewelry designer of the 1980s and 1990s. She could have been the next Antonio Pineda if not for her untimely death in 2003. She was born in Mexico City and she trained in fine arts and design. Later she worked in Taxco. She supervised the production of jewelry at the Spratling Ranch in Taxco Viejo until 1984, when she left to work full time on her own designs. Her architectural jewelry designs are clearly inspired by the Mixtec and Aztec l ...click for details
